About Shihan P. Conaghan
I first began my journey in martial arts with one of my older brothers when I was 5. He took me to the local Judo club where he trained to see if I would like to give it a go. I trained there for 2 years until I decided this was not what I wanted.
One of my other older brothers who trained in Shotokan Karate asked me if I would like to try this style. I tried this for six months but in the end decided the class was not for me.
For me, trying to find something that got my undivided attention was extremely hard and frustrating but all part of the learning curve.
Then my brother told me he had started training at a new class being taught near where we lived in Manchester called Kenpo Jujitsu. Intrigued, if thats what you would call a young lads thoughts, I decided to take a look. As I walked into the Dojo, the atmosphere was electric and I loved what I saw, it was exactly what I was looking for.
Would I change anything on my Journey, absolutely not. Some people I have met and continue to meet inspire me, and some people are easy to forget. I always look to the future and hope I can inspire others some how.
My favourite film; Rush hour 1 & 2 not just for the martial arts,
but because it's funny.
My favourite food; Roast dinners
My dislikes; Bullies and people who have a total disregard for other
people.
